It is a legend burned into the land by Twilight.
It is a legend whispered on the waves by the Wind.
It is a legend that echoes into Time itself... eternally.

In high school I would draw Link once a year, around the time the semester changed. I decided to keep on doing this in college but change it around a little bit. Instead of drawing just Link in traditional media on a white piece of paper, I'll draw Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf on a full background. I've got my work cut out for me in the coming years, but I think it will be worth the effort.

The picture itself took foreeeeeverrrr... I think I started some time shortly after Christmas and worked on it crazily for a week until school started again, then worked on it sporadically when I had time to do so. The concept itself changed tons of times, but I do like how this one has turned out. Redesigning Link's outfit was way more difficult than I would have thought. It was a bit like challenging Miyamoto himself. Rough stuff, but worth it in the end.

The starting point for this picture was the idea of the cursed bloodline of the Chosen Hero. I just have to wonder if there's ever been a boy named Link who wasn't born into the destiny of saving the world (excluding that Goron in Ocarina of Time that was named after Link for his heroic deeds). Or a Zelda who wasn't a princess fated to struggle against the Dark King. Ganon, of course, just keeps incarnating and is the same Ganon every time, the jerk. I bet if he would disappear once and for all, the curse of the Chosen Hero would be dissolved.

Not that anyone would ever wish for that to happen, since at that point we wouldn't have any new Zelda games.

Done mostly in Paint Tool SAI, effects and textures in Photoshop, texture on stones from cgtextures.com and all others hand-painted (kill me with a rusty spork).

Epic setting. :) Makes me wonder what long-forgotten, stately structure used to stand there.... some forgotten temple where trod some forgotten Link perhaps?

Cool. :aww:

The Legend of Zelda is a really sad series in a way when you think about. These three have been cursed to battle for all eternity. It would be pretty cool to see a story play off of that fact in the future somehow, like Skyward Sword did, but with a game set in the future, and with a darker tone and setting. I think that would be really interesting to see.

This is very good. I like Link's outfit, it's simple yet practical. And cool to look at, too!

very nice, definitely worth the work you put in :) except ganon looks, well, young! maybe it's just where the rocks end up in his face.. like the young gerudo before he turns into such a bad guy ;)
