Edit: Holy goshinheimer! 50 favorites and counting! I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it does to me! Considering I've never had a picture get more than 15 favorites before! :excited: Thank you! But to all newcomers, before you use that fav button, please leave a comment and tell me what I'm doing right so I can be sure to do it again! ><

This scene takes place long before Ocarina of Time. Zak, a child of the Kokiri Forest, was good friends with Saria. They were going to perform an ocarina duet for the Summer Festival, and Mido, being the jealous creep we know he is, hated Zak for this. When it came time for he and Saria to rehearse the song and he showed up early, Mido told him that he just missed Saria and that she had gone to the Sacred Forest Meadow through the Lost Woods. Zak basically shrugged and headed for the Lost Woods. Mido “warned” him (out of fear that the Deku Tree would punish him for letting a fellow Kokiri wander into the Woods unaware of consequences) that everyone who goes there turns into a Skull Kid. Zak said that Saria went through every day, so he believed that the story was made up. He went into the Lost Woods with no idea how to navigate them, and no one ever saw him again.

So what ABOUT Saria?

The game never does explain why Saria can go through to the Sacred Forest Meadow without becoming a Skull Kid, so I will! :D Basically, she knows her way through that forest. She knows exactly where she’s going, and she doesn’t get lost. Also, she has her ocarina with her all the time. If she feels that she’s starting to forget about her friends, she can just play her song to remind herself.

And Zak?

Zak had absolutely no idea how to get to the Sacred Forest Meadow, and he didn’t have his pipe with him. He wandered in circles through that forest for a long, long time. This picture portrays him as he’s beginning to forget the faces of his friends. The Skull Kids can tell that soon enough, he’ll be one of them.

(By the by, if you pay attention, you’ll notice that there are a total of three Skull Kids in the Lost Woods. ;))

I swear, the background actually took longer than the character. Clocked in at a grand total of 166 layers. :O_o: I don’t mind if you use this as your background wallpaper (that’s actually what it’s for), but don’t rip it off. I put a LOT of work into this one. Oh, and it’s been watermarked five times, so good luck. :XD:

No, really. =|

Kokiri are immune to the Lost Woods effects.
