HISTORY: Reginald lived his young Gastly life as a manservant to an elderly gentleman in an ancient mansion alongside the various other ghost-types that served him. He was enthusiastic in and proud of his work, and when the man passed away Reginald, then a Haunter, had no idea what to do with himself. For the first time in his life, he departed from the mansion and was thrilled at what he found: an entire world full of potential new masters. Reginald would have wet himself in excitement if he were the excitable sort.

The proceeding years of his life were spent traveling from city to city, entering homes in the dark of night to tidy the house and prepare breakfast. His good-intentioned efforts, however, were consistently met with shrieks of "WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE," no matter how diligent he was in studying their schedules and minding the spices they preferred in their meals. In this way, Reginald evolved not only from a Haunter into a Gengar but also from a butler to a stalker.

Narrowly evading breaking and entering charges, Reginald departed from Kanto in search of greener pastures, settling in Pokette Town in hopes of turning over a new leaf. He just can't seem to give up his search for a master, though, and it wouldn't be out-of-the-ordinary for one to open their door one morning to find a sharply-dressed Gengar conveniently presenting you with a plate of your favorite breakfast fare...

Time passed, and Reginald was unable to find the master he sought in Pokette. He often found himself dreaming for days past, when he served his master in Lavender Town. More time passed yet, and the Gengar discarded his ambitions. He could find none that would replace his master, and as a result, he could find no place for himself in the town. Reginald sort of faded into the background, subsisting without ever really becoming a proper member of the community. He tolerated the peculiar events that affected the residents' forms until one day he awoke in a human body and was struck with inspiration. Reginald the Gengar couldn't return to Lavender after the way he had acted before, but no one would recognize nor chase away Reginald the Human!

The temporary man gathered his things and departed the little town for Kanto and his hometown, soon arriving at the mansion where he had served for nearly the duration of his life. The groundskeeper had continued to maintain the courtyard, but as little as a glance revealed how sorely neglected the manor itself was. Reginald took it upon himself to completely refurbish and renew the old building, a task that proved to be greatly time-consuming for a single person who wasn't used to having to keep his feet on a solid surface all the time. The time spent in the mansion, however, allowed Reginald to reconnect with the past he was suddenly forced to leave behind so he could properly make his peace and say his farewells.

Reginald returned to Pokette with a much brighter outlook on the future only to be startled to find that only he was still human; the others had already returned to their pokemon forms. Resigned to the fact that he was probably going to be stuck that way forever, the now permanent man made a mental note not to go too far from town when something strange was affecting his body...

EXTRA: He'll take on a subservient expression in the presence of others and address them as m'lord or m'lady. He's really done his best to curb his creepier habits, but he does still have a tendency to stare and memorize details. He just wants to know as much about you as he can learn. That's not a crime, right?

Way back during the gijinka event, I had the thought, "whoa, humans are so much easier to draw than Gengars." ~Crimson-Jazz planted the idea that why not keep him a human then, if he's easier and more fun to draw that way? I thought that sounded like a good idea. So this has been a long time coming, but here it is! Where it says "new" is the brief story of how this came to pass. Indeed, I am working on a several-page comic to illustrate what he did in his time away. He's super fun to draw indeed. Kept it sort of chibi so he would fit on the app full-body, so I added in a bust from the gikinka image I drew before to give a better reference of facial appearance.
